Franco Baresi underwent surgery to remove a lung nodule: "It will take a while to get back to full fitness."

Franco Baresi , 65, AC Milan legend and current honorary vice president of the Rossoneri club, has undergone surgery to remove a lung nodule. "AC Milan announces that, following routine checks, our Honorary Vice President, Franco Baresi, was diagnosed with a lung nodule, for which it was decided to proceed with minimally invasive surgery," a statement from AC Milan read. "The operation went well, and the post-operative recovery was uneventful. Franco was subsequently evaluated by an oncologist, who recommended immunotherapy-based consolidation therapy. The entire Board of Directors, the Club's management, employees and collaborators, the technical staff, and the AC Milan players extend to Franco their sincere and affectionate wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. Captain, we are all with you!"
AC Milan's statement also included Baresi's words: "Dear fans, I want to let you know that it will take me some time to get back into shape. Thank you to AC Milan and to all of you for your support and encouragement. With love, a hug."
